User Group MeetingsUser Group Meetings can be an ideal environment for business and organizations to attract clients, prospective clients and stakeholders. Businesses or organizations can invite participants of their choosing: distributors, re-sellers, clients and stakeholders; SAF and non-SAF members.Agenda: The agenda is yours to design and plan and can be used to provide a forum for training, certification, new product introduction, and applications. Meeting Rooms: Meeting rooms will be made available for companies or organization wanting to plan an all day or half-day "User Group" meeting. The rooms can accommodate 50-75 participants and will be set up to meet all your audio visual needs. How to Sign-up: User Group Meetings will be scheduled for a full or half day on Tuesday October 23 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Interested attendees must register online for the SAF Convention to participate in these sessions. The session is free to all registered attendees. If you plan to attend the convention for one day only, then select the Wednesday day-rate. Your registration fee for Wednesday will include the User Group's meeting, the Icebreaker Reception on Tuesday evening in the Exhibit Hall, and attendance to all the technical and scientific sessions as well as access to the Exhibit Hall on Wednesday, October 25. Manomet Center for Conservation Sciences In this one-day workshop titled How to Select and Use Indicators in Forest Sustainability, participants will learn how to lead efforts to select economic, social, and environmental indicators for forest sustainability. Through presentations and exercises, you will learn about both the technical and social considerations for selecting indicators for the local, state, and national scales.
Juniper Systems, Inc. and Electronic Data Solutions are providing training and new product information on their line of mobile data collection solutions for forestry professionals, including rugged field PCs, forestry software, GIS and GPS solutions.
Annual Department of Defense Forestry Workshop Each year, the Department of Defense conducts a forest management workshop in conjunction with the SAF Convention. Technical sessions, which are open to all attendees, focus on management strategies, success stories, and new technologies that address the unique challenge of managing forest lands on DoD installations. This workshop is a good training opportunity for natural resources professionals who are responsible for maintaining forest landscapes for military training and operations.
