Conservation Organizations Interest in Federal Land Management
For states west of the Great Plains, the single largest holder of land is the federal government. In Oregon alone U.S. federal agencies own 57% of all precious forest and woodlands. For over fifty years, the Nature Conservancy has partnered with the federal government and others to care for public land and protect and preserve the last great places in America. Nowhere is this partnership more important than meeting one of the greatest challenges facing this generation - returning our national forest and woodlands to a healthy and sustainable state.
