Society of American Foresters 2008 National Convention: "Students, Our Future, Their Future!" Our October, 2008 Update

Student participation and leadership at our National Convention is growing and an important part for a successful convention experience. Their intellect, good will and enthusiasm bring vitality to our networking, convention events and profession.
Our co-hosting schools are already prepared for student attendees and activities. We thank our SAF Student leaders and their advisors at the University of Nevada, Shasta College, University of California-Berkeley and Humboldt State University for their hard work and commitments on our behalf.
Busy too are our National Council District Student Representatives who are helping define SAF student member issues, opportunities and concerns to be addressed in their National Student Congress. Students are encouraged to submit issues and topics of interest to their SAF Student District Representatives.

Special SAF Student events and SAF 2008 National Convention opportunities you'll enjoy are:
November 5, Wednesday 4 pm to 5 pm; Student Reception and Orientation. This event is a wonderful opportunity to meet and greet fellow students from across America and the World. This orientation is designed to provide useful Convention Week information and help students organize and optimize their convention experience, which is fast moving and filled with important and fun events.
November 5, Wednesday 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm; Presidents Welcome Reception: Attend this fun and important icebreaker event to meet and network with fellow SAF members, partners and leaders. Tour the "Forestry Expo" exhibit hall and swing by the Poster Sessions to determine where you'd like to visit during refreshment and lunch breaks for our Convention Week.
November 5, Wednesday 7:00 pm to 10 pm; Student Team Quiz Bowl: View a friendly competition between teams of forestry students representing their schools from across our Nation. It is an entertaining and educational event. This is a favorite SAF National Convention event.
November 6 Thursday 3:30 pm to 5:50 pm; National Student Congress: This Congress is the official business meeting for SAF Students. It is important to be involved and participate in this governance, issues dialogue and decision making opportunity. Attend and meet students from across American and the World.
