SAF 2008 National Convention High School Symposium Update: "Local Schools Attending from California and Nevada Announced."
High School students from five local area, California/Nevada, schools are attending the Society of American Foresters 2008 National Convention in Reno, Nevada to learn about forestry and natural resource issues and career opportunities.
Close to 100 students from these schools will hear from Society of American Foresters (SAF) leaders, experts and forestry students from across the nation.
They will get first hand science briefings on climate change, water management, recreation and stewardship of forests and watersheds by former SAF President John Helms, a noted worldwide and respected teacher, scientist and forestry professional.
They will tour the SAF 2008 Forestry Expo Hall as well as learn about state of the art technology devices and advancements, urban forestry, and forest inventory approaches and importance. Deans from local colleges and universities with forestry and natural resource programs will present information on education and career opportunities.
High Schools invited are:
- Nevada Union High School, Grass Valley, California;
- North Tahoe High School, Tahoe City, California;
- Protor R. Hug High School, Reno, Nevada;
- Earl Wooster High School, Reno, Nevada;
- South Tahoe High School, South Lake Tahoe, California.
